Our Friend and Colleague
The family of Matthew DeBroux joined us today to remember their son. Matt worked for the Anderson Automotive Group for seven years, from 2004 to 2011, and was the Detail Manager here at Anderson Toyota & Lexus of Rockford. A happy, hard-working young man with a great personality that, on January 22nd 2011, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while at work.
Matt’s family – father Dave, stepmother Candy, and stepsister Stacy Bartholomew – were here to dedicate their donation of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in his memory. They were joined by Lieutenant Robert Vertiz, EMS Coordinator with the Rockford Fire Department, who discussed the importance of AEDs in the workplace and the training of employees in CPR and the use of the device.
Dave DeBroux explained that when he heard that Anderson Toyota & Lexus of Rockford were moving to a new and larger location that “a light bulb went on” and they decided to donate the defibrillator so it would become a part of the new dealership. The AED now hangs, centrally located, on one of our Service Department walls beside a picture of Matt and a plaque that reads:
In memory of our friend and colleague
